Domain tips - Choose a .com domain
Domains come in many styles and models' for example, you can choose a .com, a .org, a .net' there are all kinds of options. But the best one, and the only one that will pay off in the long run, is a .com. Why? Well, let me explain.First of all, the .com world is the professional world of domain names. Granted, you could, potentially, have a .net or .org site that enjoys success, but by adopting anything other than a .com you are setting yourself up for a few quick losses.
One, if people remember your domain name, and go to type it in, they will, 90% of the time, type in .com at the end by habit. If they do not bring up your site, than there is a slight chance they will try again with a .net or .org'or, they will click on the first Google result, find what they were looking for, and presto' your traffic has been lost.
Also, believe it or not, there are many folks out there who, though tech-savvy enough to know how to browse the internet and even sharp enough to type in url addresses, do not realize that there is anything but a .com. Seriously. If these folks tried to find your .net site, than one of two things would happen. Perhaps they would find your site after all, and learn that there are, indeed, .net sites. They have learned something new, you have gained traffic, and all is well. But this is usually not how it happens. Usually, these folks will tediously type in your url, but with a .com at the end. Nothing comes up. They frown, and do it again. Still nothing. They either email you, asking you why your site is not up, or they simply check Google results'and presto, again you have lost traffic.
